Christ the Redeemer

Christ the Redeemer is a statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is considered the largest Art Deco statue in the world and the world's 5th largest statue of Jesus Christ. It was constructed between 1922 and 1931. It is 39.6 metres tall, including its 9.5 metres pedestal, and 30 metres wide. It weighs 635 tonnes and is located at the peak of the 700-metre Corcovado Mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park overlooking the city. A symbol of Christianity, the statue has become an icon of Rio and Brazil. It is made of reinforced concrete and soapstone.

Tokyo Sky Tree

The Tokyo Sky Tree, formerly known as New Tokyo Tower, is a broadcasting, restaurant and observation tower under construction in Sumida, Tokyo, Japan. It has been the tallest artificial structure in Japan since 2010. The tower reached its full height of 634.0 metres (2,080 ft) in March 2011 but will not be finished until at least February 2012. One of Tokyo Sky Tree's main purposes is as a television and radio broadcasting tower. Tokyo's current broadcasting tower, Tokyo Tower, is at 333 m (1,093 ft), and is no longer tall enough to give complete digital terrestrial television broadcasting coverage because it is surrounded by many high-rise buildings. The Tokyo Sky Tree is currently the tallest tower in the world. It is taller than Canton Tower, the tallest structure on an island, taller than Taipei 101; and the second tallest structure in the world, after the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

Vehicle Assembly Building

The Vehicle Assembly Building, or VAB, at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) was used to assemble and house American manned launch vehicles from 1968-2011. It is the fourth largest building in the world by volume. The VAB is the largest single-story building in the world, was the tallest building in Florida until 1974, and is still the tallest building in the United States outside an urban area.

Golden Resources Shopping Mall

Golden Resources Shopping Mall, or Jin Yuan is a shopping mall located in Beijing, People's Republic of China. In English, the mall has nickname Great Mall of China. It takes about two days to explore with 230 escalators, more than 1,000 shops and restaurant space the size of two football fields, and a skating rink. Its total area is 7.3 million sq ft or 680,000 sq m over six floors.

Ericsson Globe, Sweden

The Ericsson Globe is the national indoor arena of Sweden, located in the Johanneshov district of Stockholm (Stockholm Globe City) it is formerly known as the Stockholm Globe Arena, also in Swedish nicknamed Globen, ’The Globe’. The Ericsson Globe is currently the largest hemispherical building in the world. It took two and a half years to build. Its shape is like a large golf ball. It has a diameter of 110 meters and an inner height of 85 meters. The volume of the building is 605,000 cubic meters. It has seating capacity for 16,000 spectators for shows and concerts, and 13,850 for ice hockey. It represents the Sun in the Sweden Solar System, the world's largest scale model of the Solar System.

The Colosseum

The Colosseum is an elliptical amphitheatre, the largest ever built in the Roman Empire in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy. It is considered one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and Roman engineering. Capable of seating 50,000 spectators, the Colosseum was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on Classical mythology. The building ceased to be used for entertainment in the early medieval era. It was later reused for such purposes as housing, workshops, quarters for a religious order, a fortress, a quarry, and a Christian shrine. It is one of Rome's most popular tourist attractions and still has close connections with the Roman Catholic Church. The Colosseum is also depicted on the Italian version of the five-cent euro coin.

Amagase Dam

The Amagase Dam is an arch dam on the Uji River just upstream from Uji City in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. The main purpose of the dam is flood control but it supports a hydroelectric power station and creates the lower reservoir for the Kisenyama Pumped Storage Plant. The dam itself serves a 92 MW power station while the pumped-storage power station upstream has a 466 MW capacity. Construction on the dam began in 1955 and it was complete in 1964.

Nurek Dam, Tajikistan

The Nurek Dam is an earth fill embankment dam on the Vakhsh River in Tajikistan. Construction of the dam began in 1961 and was completed in 1980. At that time Tajikistan was a republic of the Soviet Union. Its height is 300 m and is currently the tallest dam in the world. The dam includes nine hydroelectric generating units having a generating capacity of 300 megawatts each (2.7 gigawatts total), they have since been redesigned and retrofitted such that they now combine to produce 3.0 gigawatts. As of 1994, this formed most of the nation's 4.0 gigawatt hydroelectric generating capacity, which was adequate to meet 98% of the nation's electricity needs.

Hebbal Flyover, Banglore, India


Hebbal flyover constructed in the city of Banglore, India, connects the Bangalore International Airport to rest of the city. Its total length is 4.7km. The construction of this flyover has helped commuters to a great extent by connecting all the roads, thereby reducing the number of traffic jams around the area. This area is generally crowded due to existence of numerous institutions and offices

Moffat Tunnel, Colorado


The Moffat Tunnel is a railroad and water tunnel that cuts through the Continental Divide in north-central Colorado. Named after Colorado railroad pioneer David Moffat, the tunnel's first railroad traffic passed through in February 1928. The railroad tunnel is 24 feet high, 18 feet wide and 10.0 km long. The apex of the tunnel is at 9,239 feet above sea level. Railroad connections through the tunnel shortened the distance between Denver and the Pacific coast by 283 km. The first train passed through the tunnel in February 1928. The water tunnel and the railroad tunnel parallel each other, the water tunnel delivers a portion of Denver's water supply.
